Originally from Freshwater and Totland (which is where the FaT name comes from), with members from all over the Isle of Wight, we are a strong community-based band, who create a loud and vibrant atmosphere wherever we play. Our gig list encompasses many carnivals and special events. We have played at events such as Yarmouth Old Gaffers, the Island Games, V-Dub Festival, Robin Hill events and Yarmouth Guy Fawkes parade. We are also available for fundraising and charity events as well as private functions.

Where to see us : Gigs 2025 and where we have played back to 2018We play various styles of Samba - Rio-style, Samba-Reggae, Maracatu, also Afro-Cuban, with influences from other musical genres.
We are always looking for new members of all abilities and ages!
Cost is £4.00 per adult member per rehearsal attended, under 18s and students £1-00, and with your first session free! Cash payments please.
You don't need to be able to read music, or own an instrument as we offer a full training programme in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and we can loan the appropriate instrument throughout your membership.
The band is open to any age, but under-tens may find it too challenging.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the rehearsal and at events.
We have a uniform of red tops and white bottoms and red headwear - for members the band supplies red T-shirts with the FaT Samba logo on the front, and also red fleeces with the FaT logo on the back, and backpacks with the FaT logo. You provide your choice of white trousers, shorts or skirt.
The band is a non-profit making community band.
